Onfolio aims to transform web research

2004-03-15

Onfolio Inc has launched a new personal information management tool, which aims to simplify online research.

The Massachusetts startup's productivity tool embeds itself in the Web browser and lets the user collect, organise, and share search results and browsing activity so that information resources can be used repeatedly without performing duplicate searches.

Onfolio combines one-click buttons on the browser address toolbar, tabs, and the Explorer-style file system to create a simple information-management interface. A professional edition also allows for rapid publishing of collected information to a Web site or as RSS syndication feeds.

Onfolio bridges the gap between a raw information search on Google or Yahoo and the document filing system of Microsoft Windows. Web pages, photos, Word and Acrobat documents, spreadsheets and other documents can all be filtered through Onfolio and the program works easily with other Windows functions.

Onfolio is headed by JJ Allaire, half of the brother team that founded Allaire Corp. He says he got the idea for Onfolio while doing a "ton of research" on Google.

Onfolio is available to download on the Onfolio site, and a 30-day free trial is being offered for a limited time. The standard edition will sell for $30, while the professional edition costs $80.
